Design By Decade: All About The Groovy 70s

With the Vietnam conflict coming to an end, Watergate in the U.S., and Canada’s first energy crisis, a lot was happening over the course of the 1970s. This is true of fashion, shifting cultural ideologies and attitudes, and even design. Transitioning from the 1960s meant experimenting with new styles and approaches to design—one interesting product to come out of the 1970s was a chair that combined influences from the space age and folk.
