By now, most of the photos you take are probably shot on digital camera, sitting on your computer or SD cards, but what about your prints? Our clever storage ideas will help you make the most of your old memories—before the mold gets to them first!

Photo albums

There’s still no better way to flip through your old photos and have them tell a story than a good old-fashioned photo album. They’re harder to find now as physical photos go out of vogue, but are still available at most office supplies stores.

Family yearbook

By using a service like Blurb, you can upload all of your favourite memories and turn them into a hardcover book to flip through for many years to come.

Keepsake boxes

Let’s face it, you’re probably never going to get around to scrapbooking that trip to Paris you took in 2002. A beautifully decorated keepsake box is just as good a way to keep all of your themed memories in one place, with only a fraction of the work.

Archival photo boxes

These storage boxes are made using acid-free, lignin-free papers, so they’ll keep your photos as well-preserved as anything you might find in a museum. A shoebox might start to break down and be susceptible to mold after a decade, but an archival photo box should last for several generations.

Use a digitizing service

If you’ve got boxes and boxes of photos and the concept of a mere photo album seems quaint, perhaps this task is best left to the professionals. Services like ScanCafe will scan all of your physical photos and upload them into the digital format of your choice. It can be costly, but will free up a lot of space—both mentally and physically—and leave you to move on to more important tasks!
