In 1988, Calgary became the first city in Canada to host the Olympic Winter Games. This event was one of Alberta’s largest city’s most pivotal moments. Chief among those moments came in 1883 when the Canadian Pacific Railway made it to Calgary and gave way to the growth of a commercial and agricultural centre.
