In some way, what’s even more upsetting than art being stolen from a gallery or museum in the first place is the apparent lack of respect for its value and historic significance. Art thieves will often do everything in their power to free the pieces from their frames even if it means damaging them beyond repair. Museum and gallery security teams do their best to anticipate theft, but sadly in some cases their efforts just aren’t enough to prevent the crime.
